borat jew

It was Thanksgiving Day evening when I saw Borat. After all the commotion surrounding this film, I really wanted to see, but by the same reason, truth didnÂ't want to see. But I decided to go, and IÂ'm glad I did. Since then, many of my parishioners have asked me: So nu, Rabbi, what do you think? So nu, here's what you think …
Borat is a fictional Kazakh journalist invented and interpreted by the British comedian provocateur Sacha Baron Cohen for Da Ali G Show, a show of unstaged and unscripted in which Borat interviews people who believe that is a true television journalist from Kazakhstan. As an aside, Borat speaks Hebrew for most of the film when he talks to his teammate. Thata because Sacha Baron Cohen grew up Orthodox and speaks fluent Hebrew! I must say, Borat is absolutely outrageous! His humor is an over-the-top. "That does not mean always is fun, because sometimes it is, sometimes not. When it is not fun, it's obnoxious. Traveling to America and called on his interviews, he introduces the language bathroom and racist descriptions, inviting his subjects to demonstrate that they are as fanatical as he portrays himself.
For example (only one of many), gives him his new American friends with the story of the Running of the Jew – a traditional annual festival in which the 300 bravest men of Kazakhstan Chase large papier-mache caricatures of Jews in the streets, and pursue them in wells, while spectators break the eggs that was, and throw stones and potatoes in cartoons of the Jews. "It's for children," says Borat. As stated in the story, people are attracted to his folksy way of speaking, and no objection or complaints from any person. Nobody stops, nobody calls him in the fight against anti-Semitism this story illustrates. They just accept it, and are complicit with him in his restaurants. He asks a gun dealer, what is the best weapon to shoot Jews, and the gun dealer shows the preferred model. No rebuttal, no shock, no rage or anything. He just gives you the best weapon in the shop to kill Jews!
In fact, all ita is a joke, Borat is doing. But ita's pretty scary, too, how so called educated and enlightened Americans might agree with extremism and fanaticism Borat. And that brings me to a "Thea" Question: How should we respond to sexual and racial vilification, when we hear it? What, how should we react when we hear the comments others who know deep in our hearts, are repulsive? Subjects borate them know he was joking? I think not. Some of them were actually welcome him, showing real kindness and hospitality to a stranger to these shores, to the point of putting his insensibilities obscene. Others, however, were clearly anti-Semitic bigots ", anti-black, anti-woman, anti-anyone who was different.
Borat realized I was playing with them? No, and that part of fear. Yes, there are fanatics in States States, and we must be on the lookout for them. But even we who are fans, we also love to hear a joke that mocks Elsea someone, another person or ethnic group or someone somehow a "different" from us. We call that gossip, and it is a mistake. But often ita is fun, and so we laughed, as we may cringe at the same time. Gossip is a favorite topic in the Talmud (500 CE), because the rabbis understand human nature. They said:  "The person who listens to gossip is worse than the person saying it, because no harm could be done by gossip if no one listened. It is said that has Lashon-ra (disparaging speech) kills three: the person speaking, the person listening, and the person who told. "
Borat the movie is in fact "no laughing matter.Â" There are fundamental issues and language diversity and acceptance of others who invites us to confront our own lives. We should all know by now our world's history that intolerance often begins with the humor that is lost and becomes racism in thought and action. There is nothing funny about that, though Borat wants us to think so. Life is serious, and that God expects us to treat all children as we ourselves expect to be treaties. We are, each and every one of us, regardless of our sex, religion, sexual preference or political affiliation, created in God's image, and when all we realize, and act as if we do, it will be a much better place.
And that's to laugh at anything!
